The source of our anxiety and fear comes from years of conditioning

All of our negative reactions to certain triggers do not come from outside forces, they originate within us. They come from years of conditioning, and they are rooted deeply in our hidden belief systems. These belief systems are not always productive, and they have been being built for us since early in our childhood. The external triggers that cause negative emotions are only a catalyst. They cause us to react in defense of those belief systems, which we refer to as the Writing on Our Walls.

Understanding this reality is the first step towards living a more mindful and emotionally intelligent life. The mind by itself is imperfect. It can easily be clouded by ego when triggered by a negative external force. Without awareness of the Writing on our Walls, the mind uses “fight or flight” defense mechanisms to protect the belief systems that we have built for ourselves.

But when we become aware of this reality, our mind begins to live more in tune with our heart. Instead of defending these often unproductive and flawed belief systems, we start to become more aligned with our most important values such as patience, kindness and love towards others. The mind and the heart begin to unite to form a perfect symphony, freeing ourselves from our limiting beliefs and opening the door to ultimate joy and happiness.
