We all want to live our best lives and reach our potential. Some of us dream of starting a business, writing a blockbuster, making a name for ourselves as a leader, becoming a star. But whatever form of greatness of joy we dream of achieving, too often, there’s a catch: our dreams tend to be dashed — not by others, but by ourselves. In The Mind is the Map: Awareness is the Compass, and Emotional Intelligence is the Key to Living Mindfully From the Heart (Eudaimonia Center LLC, October 2018), authors Christina Reeves and Dimitrios Spanos offer the tools to overcome our own self-defeating obstacles, and live the lives we dream of. Must read for anyone interested in “emotional awareness”

I greatly enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend to anyone interested in the topic of emotional awareness. I particularly enjoyed the sections focused on how our preconceived beliefs and perceptions can get us hooked onto habitual (and often negative) responses, and make us resistant to change. The authors did a great job in identifying techniques that I can personally use to be aware of my auto-negative responses and instead consider a fresher, healthier and emotionally-aware approach. This book is a must read for anyone not only looking to explore the inner working of his/her mind and emotions, but also to learn tangible techniques that allow one to breakthrough the emotional and behavioral limitations built up over a lifetime to ultimately lead to a happier and more spiritual existence. – Fahmi Enam

A map to self-discovery and healing

A timely book to show us the workings of the mind and how nurturing (socialization) influences our choices, habits and the decisions we make in life. Cristina beautifully makes us aware of the “writing on the wall” and why we must look deeper into the thought process that impacts how we live and love. Bringing attention to the “subconscious mind”, the authors draw the map to self-realization through self-mastery as individuals and as a collective…stressing that we, as individuals and as a society, have the ability to create the most loving, peaceful, and spiritual world ever imagined. -Corina Luna Dea
Love how well thought out the lay out is and how the ideas are presented. Making connections to past mystics by beginning each chapter with a quote, speaking in the first person to include the reader, providing personal anecdotes and stories to make connections and put ideas in perspective, and offering journaling prompts to begin the process of self-reflection and intentional growth, as well as engaging in conversations with friends and others to share these newly found discoveries. Building a community of awaken souls. -Elefteria Tzanetis

The term “awareness” and “know thyself,” has been the subject of self-help books instructing the reader to look within to find the answers to their stressful or unhappy life. We are instructed to find the patterns of thinking that does not produce the best results. Sounds easy to do, identify the errors in thinking change them, and then we will live a happier more fulfilling life. It has always been difficult to change the way I viewed my experiences and reacted to life, but reading and doing the exercises in this book really did make it easier for me. Until I read this book, “The Mind Is the Map,” I was attempting to change myself using only my thoughts. I did not question where my beliefs originated, how I felt about these beliefs, or where the emotions that became attached to these beliefs originated! My facts and thoughts were not enough to slow the chatter in my mind. I did not understand why I felt like I was riding a stationary bike. Without going deep within, sensing the emotions in my body and where the feelings originated I was not able to “think” myself out of my thought patterns. As I worked my way through the exercises in this book, I felt lovingly guided every step of the journey. I became increasingly aware of the “Writing on My Wall,” and how it was put there to begin with. I was introduced to a host of new tools to assist me, and I learned to laugh at my follies, manage my very strong feelings, as I was guided to live from my heart. The Mind is the Map was indeed a treasure map for me and the journey was one of curiosity, wonder, playfulness and fun. Enjoy! – Catherine B.
I love this book and I think it is an absolute must for anyone who wants to experience self-development and a life of freedom, joy and true happiness. “The mind is the map” is a masterpiece and it offers a beacon of light to anyone working on their own spiritual path. Packed with wisdom, insights, ideas, tools and processes the book contains everything one needs to know to determine what “is written on their wall” and create new habitual programming and behaviors that will allow them to live from the heart. In a dialog format the authors, Christina Reeves and Dimitrios Spanos, both effective transformational leaders, through mutually enhancing perspectives offer their many years’ experience encouraging us to ponder some illuminating as well as life changing questions about ourselves and the programming beneath our habitual tendencies. Their ideas and insights certainly challenge our own thinking and perceptions guiding us toward our personal discovery process. The book’s premise is that many of the various circumstances that seem to block our happiness only appear to do so based on the “writing on the wall”, a term used to describe the downloaded programming that is recorded on our subconscious mind. However the authors stress the fact that by becoming Alchemists of the heart one can reverse this process. The processes presented in this elegantly written book are geared toward practicing both Awareness and Emotional Intelligence, assisting us in shifting our perceptions, beliefs and thoughts opening new pathways that allow us to step into the field of all possibilities. – Maria B. – Larisa, Greece

“…up there with Goleman, Bradberry and Greaves. It was refreshing to see the authors share such unique insights, particularly given the proliferation of literature on the subject in recent years. I particularly enjoyed it’s approach of not dictating – but rather providing you with tools to become a better, stronger and more perceptive version of yourself. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this book remain relevant in the years to come.”

“Highly recommend this book! This will help anyone that wants to better understand themselves and how they process the world around them – their environment, their emotions, and their relationships. The conversational approach in the book makes it feel as if you’re part of an ongoing dialogue with the authors. This book really managed to engage me in a discussion on how the mind works and how I can use that knowledge to better understand myself.”

“Fantastic book for the reader looking to reach their inner-self. The Map of the Mind is well organized in a manner that guides and leads the reader through the journey of self-awakening. Each chapter provides the reader with the tools to reach their ultimate goal, the goal of asking why, the goal of understanding why, and the goal of achieving true happiness in ones self.”

“WOW. I’ve read many books , focusing on these matters , but I must say….This is the one !!”

“We all make mistakes, we all take things for granted, and the hardest part os to understand why we took that action or why we made that wrong choice and most importantly, who we are and what we can do to change it. This book was a very pleasant read but at the same time very deep, meaningful and motivating. I study psychology and a friend of mine recommended it to me as a nice read after school to help me understand more about my self. Highly recommended.”
