In any professional career, leadership is paramount in earning respect and advancement in the workplace. Those that set an example and provide a positive impact to the work environment are always the first ones that upper management looks at for promotions and pay raises.
What does leadership mean to you? What traits or characteristics define good leadership in your opinion? Is leadership a quality your born with, or can it be developed? I want to hear the community’s thoughts on leadership, and how we can improve our leadership skills to progress in our respective careers.

Zach,
Thank you for this topic. It reminds me of a saying, “Perception becomes reality.” People’s perception of you becomes their reality. How you present yourself and interact with others in the workplace is how you are perceived. I have found that the best leaders are good listeners, they access their team and utilize each individuals skills and strengths an utilize them in the best possible way. If we try to fit a square peg in a round hole we are not setting them up for success. I do believe that each of us is born with traits like communication, creativity or the ability to organize. Leadership can be developed as we continue to grow and learn. A good leader also is willing to access their own strengths and weaknesses and can take steps to develop their skills and weaknesses.
