Humility

Only a person who has passed through the gates of Humility can ascend to the heights of Spirit.  -Rudolf Steiner

Humility is a refusal of excessiveness. Humility allows me to see myself honestly and objectively without any comparison to others. While also being able to cultivate a deep and satisfactory feeling within.  I am telling the world that I am not better and greater than any other.

Humility is what frees us from the need of self-importance and denotes the strength of our character. Humility is expressed as modesty and harmony towards life. An understanding that there is something higher than us making us powerful beyond any measure.

Unfortunately, humility gets misunderstood as lowness or insignificance. The reason being that in today’s society, self-importance has become a priority. Our world keeps promoting proud, narcissistic and powerful individuals as those of high standards. This gives them a sense of importance and provides them with feelings of superiority and allows them to bring down those who are meek and weak.

Being humble indicates a higher level of awareness that eliminates the need to be socially powerful or the desire to be admired. It will be difficult for a modern society to understand the concept of humility. Our egos have been programmed to look for delights from self-pride and narcissism. Our children are being taught to be proud of many things but rarely to be humble.

Humility requires self-love without the need for validation by others.

Living within the virtue of humility does not mean lowering our self-esteem or self-worth, but simply sharing our chastity and delicacy with others.

In an act of humility, Christ demonstrates the unfathomable principle of humbleness by washing the feet of his disciples. In doing so, He clearly shows how the principle of the higher becomes the lower . His example of becoming a servant taught us how to be present to our spiritual inheritance and serve others better.

Humility is a true deposit to our love bank. To be humble is to love God, love yourself, and love the world. Humility is like a beautiful apple tree that boughs with thickset fruit offering its delicious fruit for all to taste.

Imagine humility  like a beautiful rose growing in your garden of love, offering its beauty openly and harmoniously to the world and the Universe.

Blessings, Dimitri
