LISBON … LIFE’S ADVENTURES and LESSONS
“To the gods we attributed a dazzling existence
Consubstantial with the sea the clouds trees and light
In them the waves’ glinting the foam’s long white frieze
The woods’ secret and soft green the wheat’s tall gold
The river’s meandering the mountain’s solemn fire
And the great dome of resonant weightless free air
Emerged as self-aware consciousness
With no loss of the first day’s marriage-and-feast oneness
Anxious to have this experience for ourselves
We humans repeated the ritual gestures that re-establish
The initial whole presence of things –
This made us attentive to all forms known by the light of day
As well as to the darkness which lives within us And in which the ineffable shimmer travels
The Greeks”
– Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen an award-winning Portuguese poet and writer.
“Lisbon’s many nooks and crannies are home to numerous attractions that continue to surprise and seduce visitors. The city’s charm lies in its inspiring architecture, enchanting squares and Moorish legacy.” … DK Eyewitness travel.
We all have within us an internal light, a light that doesn’t go out, the “lumen naturae ” the light that pervades, infuses and animates our own life.
Passion is what allows us to connect to this light and live life to its limits, realizing that there are always opportunities for more creations, more relationships and more places to visit and explore.
Passion is what guides me to travel, to raise my awareness. Thus, enabling me to enjoy the cultural richness, connect with the art, architecture, monuments. The people and the natural scenery of many cities around the world are breathtaking; and as Sophia De Mello says, I am always anxious to live this dazzling experience.
In order to live my passion, this time, I am on a visit to the magnificent city of Lisbon. Just like Athens, Paris and Rome, Lisbon is one of the most beautiful cities of Europe with a true connection to the old times. It is city of many hills, fortified citadels and churches, old and new buildings painted with bright colors, covered with orange Spanish tiles that offer amazing beauty and unification.
One of my first stops is Story Centre, which is a truly innovative space dedicated to the history of Lisbon that contains several exhibitions that take one through a fascinating journey of time.
There is so much beauty and diversity in this land and while my soul surrenders to the extraordinary and alluring elegance of nature, my mind contemplates the fearless and full of spirit great Portuguese explorers such Vasco De Gamma and their perilous journeys across the seas.
The seafood here is fantastic, but what really touched my heart are the passionate words and voices of the Fado musicians; with their expression of the amazing soul and culture of the Portuguese people.
I am so much in love with the breathtaking and beautiful city of Lisbon. The world here is full of poetry and everywhere there is meeting place for the energy of love. Land meets the ocean, fire the water and wind the earth, and the sacred places where our light, travels connecting us all as one.
