The Writings on Our Walls

Posted: December 18, 2018 Author: Christina Reeves

We all have writing on our walls, sometimes we know what is written there, more often it is hidden. It is within our subconscious mind and in fact, if we reality check it, often we will find it is not something we even believe. So how did it get there? Who wrote on my wall?

The truth is they are just guidelines and strategies we have adopted for getting through life, some of them are even childhood survival skills – And many of them are fictions. They are hand me down beliefs that were written on our walls by well-meaning others and we have been dutifully obeying them ever since. To understand what is written on our walls and transform our thoughts, requires a process known as self-discovery.

The writing on our walls is our most prominent advisor and we consult it all day long! It’s all there — everything we HOLD to be true, even if it’s NOT THE TRUTH —- it’s written on our walls. The Ego rallies to defend everything written on the wall … true or false … it’s all the EGO is aware of.
Whose is the voice you listen to most in a day? Our partner’s? Our child’s? Does it belong to our boss? NO … it is our own voice and critical as it may seem sometimes, it is trying to help us by telling us what is written on our wall.

At some point, if you’re fortunate, you’ll hit a wall of truth and wonder what you’ve been doing with your life. At that point you’ll feel highly motivated to find out what frees you. Using applied psychology to examine the writing on your wall helps you to become more aware of your conscious thoughts, and less ego driven by your habitual patterns. You will become happier and more loving, on your journey to personal transformation.

At that point you’ll actually want to be present—present as you go through a door, present as you take a step, present as you wash your hands or wash a dish, present to being triggered, present to simmering thoughts, present to the ebb and flow of your emotions as you reflect on your experiences. Staying in our present moment helps us to hear our inner voice, to see who we are, monitor our thoughts and behaviors, leading us to transform our thoughts and belief to ones that serve us better and lead us to live a happier life.

Day in and day out, you’ll find that you will notice sooner when you’re hooked into habitual patterns, and it will be easier to refrain from addictive habitual behaviors that have not worked well for you. If you continue to do this, a kind of shedding happens—a shedding of old habits, a shedding of being run around by pleasure and pain, a shedding of being held hostage by fear.

One day you will be FREE to simply be who you really are as YOU will shift from Self-Discovery to Self-Realization.

Blessings and Love….Christina
